The BAFTA Awards were held last night in London, who were the big winners and who didnt do so well at this years show?
At this years show, The Favourite and Roma were the big winners, with The Favourite taking home 7 out of their 12 nominations, including, Outstanding British Film, Original Screenplay, Lead and Supporting Actress for Olivia Colman and Rachael Weisz, Production Design, Costume Design and Makeup and Hair. Roma took 4 of the biggest prizes, Best Film, Film Not in the English Language, Director and Cinematography.
Some of the other favourite films this award show season didnt do so well, A Star Is Born was nominated for 7 awards in all but took home just the one for Original Music and Bohemian Rhapsody only took home 2 awards, Sound and Lead Actor for Rami Malek.
With the Oscars coming up at the end of this month, it looks as though there are some clear favourites after last nights ceremony. The Favourite and Roma are both in good positions after winning in some of the bigger categories at the Golden Globes, SAG Awards and BAFTAS. Bohemian Rhapsody looks as though it will likely pull Best Actor at the Oscars for Rami Malek after pulling in the award at all 3 ceremonies. A Star Is Bor, began the award show season as a favourite to win but the film has perfomed lesser than it was expected to, but the Oscars are known to go against the status quo set out by the other shows, so we will have to wait and see.
