The Golden Globes were held on Sunday night, the biggest winner was Green Book, taking home 3 awards in all. There were some big surprises with A Star Is Born only winning in 1 of the 5 categories it was nominated in.

Arguably the biggest surprise of the evening was Bohemian Rhapsody which won 2 awards, Best Actor for Rami Malek and Best Motion Picture Drama. The majority of people were sure A Star Is Born would take home the awards in these categories. Bohemian Rhapsody wasnt a hit with critics when first released but was a huge hit with audiences becoming the highest grossing musical biopic of all time.

Green Book won Best Motion Picture - Musical or Comedy, Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Mahershala Ali) and Best Screenplay. The film was also an unexpected winner in its categories, being up against films like, The Favourite, Vice and Crazy Rich Asians.

A Star Is Born was the most snubbed movie of the night picking up only Best Original Song for "Shallow", it was also nominated for both Best Actress and Best Actor and also, Best Motion Picture Drama and Best Director. The film was previously expected to sweep the awards after being a big hit amongst both critics and audiences.

Other movies that were expected to pick up awards but fell short were Crazy Rich Asians and Black Panther, both huge commercial hits and huge in the movement towards more diversity in films.

In the TV nominations The Americans, The Kominsky Method and The Assasination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story were the big winners. Jeff Bridges was also the recepient of the Cecil B. Demille Award and Carol Burnett was the first recepient of the award named in her honor, The Carol Burnett Award.
